TADRIB IRAQ via IFC contributes towards building the State's Establishments

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) continues to open training courses for individuals and government staff as well to improve and develop their economic skills. The State Company for Cotton Industries, an affiliate of the Ministry of Industry, was lucky to be enrolled in one of these courses. The Headquarters of this Company which was established in 1945 is in Kadhimiya, western Baghdad. It consists of 4 factories for production of textiles, medical products, Baghdad Tailoring and 'Anaa Tailoring.
Amal Ali saeed, a mechanical engineer and manager of the Development and Research Office, discussed the training program from different aspects. She admitted that although the number of the trainees is small (20 only) these courses would dispense us from delegating the staff abroad at a high cost. She also expressed the need of the Company for such courses which are as important as those taught in universities as well as for the practical implementation of these desperately needed courses to the Company.
Mr. Khaleel Ibraheem Rasheed, Control Manager, said, "The course must include the employees and not only the senior staff." He added that "there should be an exam at the end of each course". He admitted that the Company suffers from deficiency of funding and high foreign competition (particularly that the production is only limited to medical cotton, gauze and textiles). The training items are vital to develop the planning budget. He also insisted that these courses are important to develop the skills of the employees inside the Company and to dispense with the need to delegate the staff abroad. Rasheed believed that NAJAH Program is as useful as the courses taught abroad and might even be better.
